Ballast distributing and profiling machines for railway construction

Precise construction and profiling of the track ballast bed

For the professional distribution and profiling of track ballast, HERING provides modern ballast distributing and profiling machines from Plasser & Theurer. These high-performance railway construction machines support the efficient construction and restoration of the required ballast profile for tracks and switches.

As a shareholder in Deutsche Gleisbau Union GmbH & Co. KG (DGU), we provide reliable access to modern machinery. From deployment planning and cost calculation through to execution, we support your project and coordinate machinery, personnel and track possession windows with precision.

Ballast distribution and profiling for tracks and switches

Ballast distributing and profiling machines are frequently used after tamping work. They distribute the existing track ballast, restore the specified ballast profile and remove excess material from sleepers and rails.

The machines are suitable for:

  • Distributing and profiling track ballast
  • Constructing and restoring the standard ballast profile
  • Profiling the ballast bed on tracks and switches
  • Filling areas after tamping and track construction work
  • Sweeping sleepers and rails
  • Supporting mechanised track maintenance operations

By combining modern machinery, experienced specialists and professional project management, the work can be carried out efficiently, reliably and within the scheduled track possession windows.

SSP 110 SW ballast regulator

HERING sustainability

At HERING, we see ourselves as pioneers in the field of sustainability. As early as 1996, we were the first construction company in Germany to obtain EMAS certification. Every three years, we publish an environmental statement documenting our goals and how we have achieved them. Actually, for the first time, we published a sustainability report with an integrated environmental statement in accordance with EMAS - a logical next step in view of our ecological and social responsibility. It documents how we deal internally and externally with the issues that are essential to our future viability.
