Turning Old into New: Modernised WC Facility at Emden Station

Turning old into new: under this motto, the WC facility at Emden station has undergone a comprehensive modernisation. The facility was originally built by HERING back in the 1980s and has been in reliable use for several decades. Now it has received a contemporary update — both visually and technically.

Modern Equipment and Robust Materials

As part of the refurbishment, the two cabins were fitted with high-quality HPL panels in grey and a modern wood-look finish. At the same time, all built-in components, including the toilet and washbasin, were replaced with durable and particularly robust stainless steel elements. The modernised facility now combines an attractive design with the high level of durability required for daily use in public spaces.

Accessible, Functional and User-Friendly

Today, the WC facility consists of an accessible unisex cabin and a separate urinal cabin. It therefore meets current requirements for comfort, functionality and accessibility. The result is a modern sanitary solution that impresses both visually and through its long-term usability.

Long-Term Protection with protect & clean®

Finally, the façade is currently undergoing thorough cleaning and receiving an additional surface sealant with protect & clean®. This provides long-term protection for the facility and helps preserve its well-maintained appearance.

Sustainable Modernisation in Public Spaces

With the refurbishment of the WC facility at Emden station, HERING once again demonstrates how existing facilities can be upgraded in terms of technology, functionality and design through targeted modernisation — making a sustainable contribution to quality and comfort in public spaces.
