Disabled access

The principles for planning and structural implementation of our disabled access systems are set out in DIN 18040. All our disabled access facilities have the following equipment as listed.

“Disabled access facilities must be designed to allow wheelchair and Zimmer frame users, blind people and the visually impaired to use them for their intended purpose,” explains DIN 18040 (standard for disabled access construction).

HERING Sanikonzept GmbH toilet facilities are DIN certified.

Disabled access facilities per DIN 18040:

  • Access by euro key
  • Powered door when euro key used
  • Option of extending usage time using euro key
  • Folding handles to side of toilet pan (incl. paper roll holder and toilet flush actuator)
  • Back rest behind toilet pan
  • Sensor-activated toilet flush
  • Adjustable-height wash-basin, with inclined mirror and shell
  • Functions (water, soap, air) triggered electro-mechanically using lit sensor buttons
  • Movement around WC pan complies with standard
  • Wash-basin height adjustment
  • Emergency call system
  • Clothes hook
  • Signage with Braille
  • High-contrast colours
  • Optional: Emergency call system with intercom

Access to the toilet system is via a euro key, inserting a token or using a button. If the emergency call system is actuated, the door unlocks automatically, an alarm sounds and lights flash to raise the alarm to passers-by outside. High-contrast colours and Braille signage help visually impaired people to use the public toilet facilities.
