HAC and the unique place for remembrance

At the largest park cemetery in the world, in Hamburg-Ohlsdorf, our specialists from the architectural concrete division were able to create a special place for remembrance: the "Remembrance Stop". It is freely accessible to all and offers visitors who have come to mourn and remember loved ones a public place of retreat that is also suitable for special funerals.

Altogether, the funeral hall consists of six beige façade panels and a ceiling section, which are blasted from the inside and acid-etched from the outside. Despite the public access, they protect against prying eyes. The parts were manufactured at the HERING prefabricated parts plant in Burbach-Holzhausen and assembled on site in a short time.

The idea came from the architects Solveig Schacht and Mareile Hörnig, and the implementation was carried out on site in Hamburg by the Frankfurt-based architecture firm Susanne Netter. The project is being supported professionally and financially by the Kuratorium Deutsche Bestattungskultur e.V. and the Stiftung Deutsche Bestattungskultur.
