“Thor” Railway Slewing Crane in Action at Plathnerstrasse in Hanover

Maximum precision was required during the construction of the Plathnerstrasse railway overbridge in Hanover. At the centre of the operation was the heavy machinery team of HERING Bahnbau GmbH with the KRC 910 railway slewing crane, known as “Thor”.

The team’s task was to lift prefabricated track and switch elements, move them across the construction site and position them with millimetre accuracy. A specially designed lifting beam ensured that the heavy components could be picked up and transported safely.

Each stage of the operation was closely coordinated between the crane operator, the signallers and the other teams on site. Thanks to this precise cooperation, the track and switch elements were lifted safely and placed exactly in their intended positions.

The operation is an impressive example of how modern crane technology, experience and teamwork come together in demanding railway construction projects. Many thanks to our heavy machinery team and everyone involved for the successful operation.
