A fresh new look for a true natural wonder: The Andernach Geyser Museum shines in new splendor

When architecture meets natural phenomena, something truly special is created—just like at the Andernach Geyser Museum. The interactive visitor center dedicated to the world’s highest cold-water geyser is not only a highlight in terms of content, but now once again a real eye-catcher visually as well.

Andernach Geyser Museum Facade

Challenge: Rethinking a proven classic

At first, the task sounded simple—but it had its challenges: the existing façade was to be refurbished without changing its appearance. The goal set by Geysirmuseum Andernach GmbH was clear: visitors should not notice any difference—except that everything looks brand-new again.

A tailor-made solution by HERING

For this project, HERING Architectural Concrete developed a perfectly tailored solution. A total of 518 betoShell®FLEX40 elements were planned, manufactured, and delivered.

Particular attention was paid to the surface finish and color:

  • Surface: sandblasted—for the distinctive, high-quality texture
  • Color: individually developed based on a sample of the existing façade—a finely tuned beige tone

The result: a façade that looks like the original—only new.

With the successful completion at the Andernach Geyser Museum, HERING once again demonstrates its expertise in refurbishment and in handling demanding existing-structure projects.
