With around 350.000 passengers daily, the Frankfurt am Main principal station is without a doubt one of the most important hubs for train travellers in Germany. It therefore comes as no surprise that the old-fashioned toilet facility in the “Markt im Bahnhof” area has been renovated and now complements the rail & fresh design which was the subject of a complete upgrade in the market hall area. The 1,000 m² Markthalle is the dining center of the Frankfurt main station and here travelers can satisfy all their needs concerning food and drink.
The renovation started at the beginning of the year, and during operations the entire area was closed off to the general public. As a result of the redesign, our toilet facility is now located in a slightly different location. In accordance with the rail & fresh concept, the newly renovated toilet facility, with a surface area of approximately 44 m², is fitted with speed gates and a coin-operated machine with change and voucher functions. The facility, designed by BauTec Bauplanung und Beratung GmbH (Planning & Consulting), provides a positive and relaxed atmosphere through its bright look and relaxing features, including such things as music and fragrance dispensers. The renovation of the toilet facility took 9 weeks and in mid June the 14th rail & fresh facility was put into operation.
Subsequent to this, all renovation in the Markthalle has been fully completed and the newly equipped centre is in full operation. On offer is a diverse range of culinary delights and visitors have the opportunity to choose their food and beverage from the many and varied brand concepts.
On June 27th 2013, LS travel retail operators celebrated the official opening of the new market hall in Frankfurt Main Station with numerous guests, employees and partners.
