Heavy machinery in operation - resources conserved

On 20 May 2014, DB Netz AG, Regional Unit West awarded us the contract for the combined tender to replace the track and points on the section of track from Baal-Lindern and at Baal railway station.Deutsche Bahn was planning to have the entire scheme reconstructed in a conventional way. We enclosed the following secondary quotation with the main quotation we submitted: transformation of the route section track and the track at the railway station using the bed compounding machine belonging to MGW.

Ultimately, our secondary quotation was approved and given the go-ahead. Work started on 8 September 2014 and by 2 October 2014 3,702 m of track section and 913 m of station track had to be replaced – along with five sets of points consisting of 1 x 500, 3 x 300 and 1 x 190 points. During the reconstruction work, Deutsche Bahn arranged rail replacement transport as the entire section of the route was closed.

Thanks to the use of the RM 95-800W heavy machine, it was possible to reuse approx. 5,712 m³ of the 11,424 m³ of old track bed which was to be removed in RC quality as rail track ballast. This meant that this quantity of material did not have to be supplied as new track bed and also did not have to be disposed of.
