The new building of the educational department, Faculteit Educatie (FED) of the Hogeschool van Arnhem and Nijmegen (HAN) was recently handed over to and put in use by the university.
For the bold blueprint and the overall planning process, the responsibility rested with LIAG Architecten en bouwadviseurs in De Hague. To achieve the light green splendour aspired by the architect, Hering developed a concrete composition with green recycling glass as an alternative stone granulation. In sustainability terms, both the overall building and, in particular, the façade have a very small ecological footprint, as the building is encased by a betoShell®CLASSIC architectural concrete façade – textile-reinforced and only 20mm wide. Not only with respect to sustainability, but also in architectural terms, the building in Nijmegen represents an innovative highlight as an ecologically sound integrated overall concept.
