For several years, the City of Cologne has been planning a toilet facility concept for the city. Hering has previously perused this project but unfortunately without success. This was until the waste management company (Abfallwirtschaftsbetriebe) of Cologne contacted Hering in 2013 and the project suddenly took to life.
After a company introduction and factory tour was completed Hering was chosen as the partner for the project. It was decided that 4 various toilet facilities will be produced. These toilet facilities include, amongst other, a glass interior and exterior facade, sliding doors and self-cleaning toilet seats.
The first of 3 toilet facilities to be placed in the Urbanstraße has been put into operation and included a large inaugurated and press event in Cologne. The inauguration included city officials, politicians and the Abfallwirtschaftsbetriebe. The local press, Bild newspaper, radio and WDR television were also present.
The inauguration was reported on WDR television the same evening.
