Hering was one of precisely 2015 exhibitors to present itself at BAU 2015 in Munich. In the week from 19 to 24 January, the Hering Architectural Concrete team was able to welcome a large number of visitors to the trade fair at the 50 m² stand in Hall A2. This year the BAU trade fair very much lived up to its status as the world's leading trade fair for architecture, materials and systems. For the first time, more than 250,000 visitors came to Munich, with almost one in three of them travelling from abroad.
At the Munich exhibition centre site, interested trade visitors were able to get lots of information and advice about construction in the total of 17 halls which were divided up into particular themes. As well as visiting the exhibition stands, an extensive range of supporting events was also on offer. Several special exhibitions examined the leading themes of "Intelligent Urbanization", "Energy and Resource Efficiency" and "People and Buildings" from different perspectives. Free events in which the leading themes were presented and discussed were held in the three exhibition forums. Politicians and figures from the construction industry discussed the attractiveness and prospects of the construction sectors on Tuesday, 20 January. The speakers at the symposium also included company boss Annette Hering. There was general agreement that, in order to overcome future challenges, companies in the construction supply chain have plenty of areas for action in which innovations will be needed over the coming years. There were discussions among people in response to different suggestions of how young people can be attracted to the industry to help meet these future challenges.
The Hering Architectural Concrete team can reflect on an interesting and eventful week in Munich. Many visitors were astonished by the Hering facade elements made from textile-reinforced concrete and wanted to admire the way they looked and felt. There was particular praise for the variety and quality of the concrete surfaces. The large-scale model of the administrative building of RAG in Essen was one special highlight. The visitors were particularly fascinated by the sharp-edged letters which were planked with a die plate and twinkled slightly thanks to a subsequent acid-washing treatment. Some people just could not believe that the facade was still just a concrete facade.
