Foundation Construction Train

New and special civil-engineering technology for railway construction

Highest track availability and short shut-down times, challenging geographies and confined spaces demand know-how, experience and high-performance as well as approved special civil-engineering technology for railway construction. That’s why we joined forces with Kirow Ardelt, the global market leader for railway cranes, and RTG Rammtechnik (BAUER Maschinen Group), the specialist for vibration, pile-driving and pressing, to develop a high-performance track-foundation laying train. With special set-up procedures and tool logistics as well as high foundation-laying performances, quality and speed, the rail-mounted carrier adapts special civil engineering processes that are employed in the field of railway construction and guarantees the sustainable, safe and cost-effective fulfilment of your requirements.

Track foundations with equipment by HERING

  • Vibration-free drilling of holes with diameters of up to 1350 mm
  • MR 105 V (SilentVibro) vibrator for the high-frequency vibrating of sheet-piling profiles of lengths of up to 15 metres
  • HRS 5 hydraulic hammer for pile driving lengths of up to 12,20 metres
  • MPU 660 sheet-piling press or MPZ for pressing sheet pilings, Z-profiles, U-profiles and light profiles of up to 15 metres in length

Fields of application for the track-foundation-laying train – WITHOUT CONSTRUCTION ROAD:

  • Realisation of bored piles using the Kelly drilling method for overhead line masts, signal brackets, noise barriers, etc.
  • Vibrating / pressing of sheet piling for securing excavations and stabilising railway embankments as well as installing girders for Berlin shoring, etc.
  • Driving in of concrete piling and casing pipes using the HRS5 hydraulic hammer
  • Installation of vibro-replacement stone columns for ground improvements in or near tracks (VIPAC method)

PERSPECTIVELY:

  • Production of bored piles using the rigid-cast-in-place method
  • Boring of cased and overlapping piles for bridge foundations and overlapping bored pile walls (front-of-wall method)
  • Realisation of single columns / diaphragm walls using the cutter-soil-mixing (CSM) and CSM DH methods as ground-improvement measures
  • Down-the-hole (DTH) hammer for drilling in rock

  • Rail-mounted carrier equipment
  • Leader for use with special civil-engineering tools (vibrator, sheet-piling press, hydraulic hammer, kelly drilling equipment, etc.)
  • Comprehensive system consisting of a carrier unit, flat-bed carriage for storing the leader and additional flat-bed carriage for transporting and setting up attachments
  • Extends up to 9,50 metres from the track axis
  • Use in superelevations of up to 160 mm
  • Hydraulic rams for support distances of up to four metres from the track axis
  • 360° swivelling around the upper carriage axis
  • Operation that keeps the opposite track free: maximum protrusion of upper carriage from the track axis is 1.55 metres
  • High foundation-laying performances, quality and speed

Heavy duty machinery and Foundation Construction Train: News

Heavy-Lift Duo in Action: KRC 810/2 & KRC 810/3 Master Tandem Lift in Cologne-Kalk

On a construction site in Cologne-Kalk this May, two of our crane powerhouses worked side by side: the KRC 810/2 and KRC 810/3. Their mission: to move heavy sheet steel bridges with absolute precision – under challenging site conditions.

Tandem Lift in Cologne-Kalk

The components were initially stored in a parking area in Cologne-Kalk North. In a perfectly coordinated tandem lift, our two cranes hoisted the massive steel structures, manoeuvring them millimetre by millimetre over an embankment and under the existing overhead line. From there, they were transported in tandem drive directly to the construction site.

Once on site, the elements were positioned over another parapet and across the tracks into the prepared support structures. Step by step, a new noise barrier is taking shape here – one that will bring greater peace and quiet to the surrounding neighbourhood.

Bottom line: precision, teamwork, and crane power at its best – a project that perfectly showcases what our equipment and team can achieve together.

HERING sustainability

At HERING, we see ourselves as pioneers in the field of sustainability. As early as 1996, we were the first construction company in Germany to obtain EMAS certification. Every three years, we publish an environmental statement documenting our goals and how we have achieved them. Actually, for the first time, we published a sustainability report with an integrated environmental statement in accordance with EMAS - a logical next step in view of our ecological and social responsibility. It documents how we deal internally and externally with the issues that are essential to our future viability.
