System Canopy for Berlin Ostkreuz, DE

At Berlin Ostkreuz station, HERING delivered a high-quality Zwiesel system canopy on behalf of BUG Verkehrsbau SE, incorporating a number of special structural requirements. The canopy is 60 metres long and 13 metres wide and was erected between 21 August and 14 October 2023 in continuous day and night shifts.

A particular challenge was the tapered shape with its slight curvature. This was complemented by a bespoke structure featuring an integrated glazed roof section in the centre instead of a pitched roof. The complex connection to the existing station building also required highly precise planning and execution.

Thanks to our technical expertise and flexible approach to finding solutions, the project was completed successfully.
