Heavy Lifting, Strong Teamwork: Construction Site Hamburg–Krabbenkamp

A strong performance through the perfect coordination of HERING Rail Construction, our heavy machinery fleet, and the rail logistics team of HERING Railway Services.

BR218 Locomotive with RES Wagons

In Hamburg-Billwerder, a 36-metre-long torsion beam weighing 40 tonnes and two concrete columns, each 15 metres long (weighing 16 and 10 tonnes respectively), were loaded onto a total of five RES wagons using a mobile crane. The components were then transported approximately 15 kilometres to the Krabbenkamp construction site by our BR218 locomotive “Hartmut”.

Once on site, the components were installed with millimetre precision in a tandem lift operation using our cranes KRC 810/3 and KRC 810/4 “Popeye”.

Teamwork, precision, and powerful technology – that’s how we deliver major projects safely and successfully!

HERING sustainability

At HERING, we see ourselves as pioneers in the field of sustainability. As early as 1996, we were the first construction company in Germany to obtain EMAS certification. Every three years, we publish an environmental statement documenting our goals and how we have achieved them. Actually, for the first time, we published a sustainability report with an integrated environmental statement in accordance with EMAS - a logical next step in view of our ecological and social responsibility. It documents how we deal internally and externally with the issues that are essential to our future viability.
