A total of 89 prefabricated elements for two Hering modula® side-boarding platforms were delivered by truck to Hamburg for Ed. Züblin AG, Hamburg. Hering’s prefabricated elements were all unique without repetition factor because the track is located in an area with a steep longitudinal gradient as well as a curve, which made the designing and production work a significant challenge.
Colleagues from the Hering Group had already been deployed with the KRC 910 slewing railway crane to Hamburg’s youngest district in autumn 2018. This crane from Hering’s fleet was used to commence the unloading and lifting in of the platform elements at the newly built ‘Elbbrücken’ urban-railway stop.
The new district is being linked up to the local transport system. A 70-metre-long pedestrian bridge connects the new urban-railway stop to the existing subway stop. The two side-boarding platforms with lengths of 265 metres and 252 metres were completed at the end of March.
